Conquering Boredom
(Depleted of strength or energy; to make weary by being dull, repetitive, or tedious: One that is wearingly dull, tedious not having or showing interest)
Numbers 14:31
But your little ones, which ye said should be a prey, them will I bring in, and they shall know the land which ye have despised. 32 But as for you, your carcasses, they shall fall in this wilderness. 33 And your children shall wander in the wilderness forty years, and bear your whoredoms, until your carcases be wasted in the wilderness. 34 After the number of the days in which ye searched the land, even forty days, each day for a year, shall ye bear your iniquities, even forty years, and ye shall know my breach of promise.
A Divine Sentence is pronounced: thus the first generation of Israelites is doomed to methodically and mechanically live out their existence in unalterable drudgery! Their decisions to embrace unbelief rather than faith, have become their seeds of consequences! Decisions are seeds that produce a harvest of benefits or a harvest of consequences!
It is so easy to become accustomed to doing the same things, the same way every day that the newness of the experience is a distant memory! This means that the meaning or original significance has been exiled to the subconscious mind and the cherished opportunity is no longer one of gratitude or inspiration. This means that you are in a state of forgetfulness and lost purpose! We are warned about the dangers of forgetfulness after we have been blessed! Deuteronomy 6:10
And it shall be, when the LORD thy God shall have brought thee into the land which he sware unto thy fathers, to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob, to give thee great and goodly cities, which thou buildedst not, 11 And houses full of all good things, which thou filledst not, and wells digged, which thou diggedst not, vineyards and olive trees, which thou plantedst not; when thou shalt have eaten and be full; 12 Then beware lest thou forget the LORD, which brought thee forth out of the land of Egypt, from the house of bondage.
Deuteronomy 8:10
When thou hast eaten and art full, then thou shalt bless the LORD thy God for the good land which he hath given thee. 11 Beware that thou forget not the LORD thy God, in not keeping his commandments, and his judgments, and his statutes, which I command thee this day: 12 Lest when thou hast eaten and art full, and hast built goodly houses, and dwelt therein; 13 And when thy herds and thy flocks multiply, and thy silver and thy gold is multiplied, and all that thou hast is multiplied;
It is tempting to the flesh and self-serving to subscribe credit to ourselves and leave God out of our achievements!Deuteronomy 8:14
Then thine heart be lifted up, and thou forget the LORD thy God, which brought thee forth out of the land of Egypt, from the house of bondage; 15 Who led thee through that great and terrible wilderness, wherein were fiery serpents, and scorpions, and drought, where there was no water; who brought thee forth water out of the rock of flint; 16 Who fed thee in the wilderness with manna, which thy fathers knew not, that he might humble thee, and that he might prove thee, to do thee good at thy latter end; 17 And thou say in thine heart, My power and the might of mine hand hath gotten me this wealth. 18 But thou shalt remember the LORD thy God: for it is he that giveth thee power to get wealth, that he may establish his covenant which he sware unto thy fathers, as it is this day.
Doesn’t everyone live and hope for achieving specific purposes in their lifetime? Well, boredom has seized your perspective and it depriving your conscious mind of the invigoration, which is needed to have a feeling of spiritual of satisfaction. Your passion has been totally obliterated, buried, forgotten and decimated.
In essence, you have become a walking, working and active mechanical machine! (Performed or performing in an impersonal or machine like manner; of an action/task done without thought or feeling; a routine or repetition) Thus boredom has become your biggest challenge and the boredom leech is constantly draining your vitality! In practice you are just a machine that must have constant maintenance or be squeezed to be productive! This is where the flesh is mastering your body!
Boredom must be reversed by summonsing the beginning of the experience from the subconscious mind and reviving the feelings. You need to pray Lord resuscitate me! Every experience you ever had has been engraved with an emotion; they are attached to each other! The feeling is the experience and experience is the feeling. As with the lyrics of the gospel song: When I think of the Goodness of Jesus(the experience) and all that He’s done for me, my soul cry’s out Hallelujah ! (the feeling) I thank God for saving me! Boredom, what is that? Where is boredom? Isn’t boredom just a detachment? Change your attitude immediately by allowing your memory to reference His Goodness! Boredom is an infirmity!
2 Corinthians 12:9
And He said unto me, My Grace is sufficient for thee: for My strength is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me. 10 Therefore I take pleasure in infirmities, in reproaches, in necessities, in persecutions, in distresses for Christ's sake: for when I am weak, then am I strong.
